PV Sindhu, who won the championship in 2018 is the Indian with most podium finishes in the tournament so far. She has two silver medals and two bronze medals respectively. Last year, Sindhu suffered quarterfinal exit as she lost to Tai Tzu Ying in straight sets. This year too Sindhu has some big challenges ahead in the tournament.
The world No.7 is placed in the second quarter of the draw and got a bye in the first round. In the second round, she will either face China’s Han Yue or France’s Qi Xuefei. In the third round, Sindhu is likely to face World No.11 Wang Zhi Yi. Though Sindhu has a 2-0 record against the Chinese, the 11th seed brings with her a challenge and it won’t be a cakewalk to beat her.
