BWF World Championships: After gold in CWG 2022, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty eye good show in Tokyo, says ‘we will give 200 percent in men’s doubles’

“We would want to go deep into the tournament. Not think too much about it and reach the finals. Our body is in great shape now as this is the biggest tournament of the year. We want to do well in Japan. We will give our 200 percent for the competition as after this we have the time to take good rest,” Satwiksairaj told InsideSport.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are currently training in Hyderabad. They are going to be involved in some more training sessions before they take their flight to Hyderabad.

In fact, their focus for the last three months or so have been the Worlds. However, they did train for other BWF events and also the CWG on the way. Their big test will lie in two weeks’ time at Tokyo.

The Indian pair is aware of the competition that exists in the men’s doubles at Tokyo. All the top contenders from around the world will compete in the event, and a small mistake here or there could end their dream of winning the world title.

The draws for the World Championships have already been made. The Indian pair have received a bye, but could run into a potential match against a strong Malaysian opponents in the form of Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong of Malaysia.

“We have been there. We have played with all the top competitors so we know about the competition in the championship. The draw is out, and we know we are playing. We could be playing the Malaysian pair in the pre quarters. I know we have it in them to win the contest as well. As of now, the way we are playing, we have a good chance of beating them,” said Satwik.
