PV Sindhu vs TBD

PV Sindhu received a bye into the second round of the BWF World Championships and will face off against the winner of the clash between Martina Repsika and Russelli Hartawan. The Indian ace is seeded sixth for the tournament and will be hoping for a podium finish and end 2021 on a high. Sindhu is placed in section 1 of the draw and faces a potential quarter-final against 1st seed Tai Tzu-Ying.

Kidambi Srikanth vs Pablo Abian

India’s highest-seeded men’s singles player Kidambi Srikanth faces an easy first-round draw when he takes on Spain Pablo Abian. The former World No.1 has made it to multiple semi-finals this season but has failed to cross the finish line and will hope to do so at the year-end tournament. The two have met previously, with Srikanth winning the tie over his unseeded opponent at the 2018 BWF World Championships.

Lakshya Sen vs Max Weisskirchen

Lakshya Sen has been one of the finds for India in recent years and the youngster has proved his mettle this season. Sen has made deep runs in the lst few tournaments, including multiple semi-finals and is India’s most in-from men’s singles player at the moment. While unseeded, the 20-year-old will be aiming to reach further in the competition and will face Germany’s Max Weisskirchen. The duo have met twice previously, with one each to their name.

Sai Praneeth vs Mark Caljouw

Sai Praneeth has not had the best of runs but the Indian ace will be hoping for a solid finish to the year at the BWF World Championships. Praneeth, seeded 14th for the tournament faces Mark Caljouw in the first round. The duo have met once previously, with the Dutchman registering a comfortable win at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this year.

HS Prannoy vs Angus Ng Ka Long

HS Prannoy has received a tough draw as he takes on eighth seed Angus Ng Ka Long in the first round. Prannoy is unseeded and has had a difficult year, and will face a uphill task against the Chinese ace. The two players have met five times previously, with Prannoy’s only win coming way back in 2016 at the China Open.
