Liam Smith vs Chris Eubank Jr. Who won the first fight?
The first started off with a bang. Eubank Jr. looked to establish the jab while Smith wanted to counter. Initially, Eubank Jr. succeeded in staying out of range and landing the jab. However, Smith grew into the round and by the end of the round, Smith had landed some heavy shots in the clinch.
The second round followed the same pattern. Both fighters trying to impose their style on the fight. However, Smith was succeeding in making it slugfest, which is unfamiliar territory for the technically sound Eubank Jr. The third round was better for Eubank Jr. as he managed to avoid finding himself in the clinch too often.
However, the fourth round is where it all went wrong. Smith managed to cut off Eubank Jr. and landed a barrage of shots while in range. Some of these landed, and as a result, Eubank Jr. was swerving to survive. Eventually, Smith landed a perfect left uppercut that sent Eubank Jr. crashing to the ground.
Although Eubank Jr. got up almost immediately, he struggled to find his feet. After the count, Smith rushed in again and dropped Eubank Jr. with an overhand right. At this point, the referee stepped in and waved it off. In addition, his corner was also ready to throw in the towel. Thus, Liam Smith beat Chris Eubank Jr. in the first fight and handed him his first knockout loss.
