Boxing: How Much Money Did Galal Yafai Earn By Knocking Out Tommy Frank?

He is by far the most entertaining of the Fighting Yafais, and he does possess the skill to support that attacking mindset

The boxing match between Galal Yafai and Tommy Frank was for the WBS Flyweight Title. The fight took place at Utilita Arena, Birmingham, West Midlands, England. Galal Yafai earned a guaranteed purse of $400k for the upcoming fight. While his opponent, Tommy Frank earned a guaranteed purse of up to $425k.

In his first-round TKO victory over Tommy Frank, Galal Yafai wasted no time.

Yafai (5-0, 4 KO) was competing in his first professional main event, albeit on a smaller scale, and was also making his career debut in his hometown. The former Olympic gold medalist just went right at Frank in this one, giving his opponent little time to breathe, despite the fact that he has always displayed tremendous aggression since entering the paid ranks in early 2022.

At 1:40 in the first round, Frank (15-4-1, 3 KO) was shortly down and the referee threw in the towel as Yafai continued to attack. Frank may not be a world-class boxer, but he was once the British flyweight champion, for what it’s worth, and he was competitive before losing to former world championship challenger Jay Harris in the tenth round of their most recent fight.

Yafai, 30, appears determined to enter the world stage as soon as possible. Despite some obvious flaws (his aggression makes him easier to hit), the man is entertaining to watch. He is by far the most entertaining of the Fighting Yafais, and he does possess the skill to support that attacking mindset—probably more than he has so far demonstrated.

Sheffield fighter Frank, 30, suffered his fourth career loss after finding it difficult to keep up with Yafai from the opening bell.

Frank previously held the British flyweight belt, therefore Yafai wanted to dispatch his opponent quickly to establish his superiority over fighters competing on a home level.

Yafai was fighting in Birmingham for the first time in almost ten years. Wearing blue shorts with white and gold trim, he came out swinging and floored Frank after crowding him before landing a powerful right punch.

Frank swiftly rose to his feet again, but Yafai promptly sent him back to the ground as the local fighter went for the quick knockout.

Frank attempted in vain to move out of the way of the attacks as Yafai pursued his adversary and backed him towards the ropes.

However, Yafai was consistently landing, and after a little over 90 seconds, Frank’s corner gave up.
