Archery had a series of mixed results on Tuesday in the women’s singles event at Paris Olympics 2024. Bhajan Kaur advanced to the Round of 16 defeating Poland’s Wioleta Mysore in jut three sets by (28-23, 29-26, 28-22). She also defeated Indonesia’s Syifa Nurafifah Kamal in the round of 32 by in a five-set match.
Unfortunately, in the same event, Ankita lost to Poland’s Wioleta Mysore in the round of 64. However, Bhajan later took the revenge for Ankita.
Success for Bhajan
Bhajan Kaur started her match with a tie in the first set, scoring 9, 8, and 10 for a total of 27. Syifa also scored three 9s, resulting in a tie of 27. Syifa made a comeback in the second set with a score of 29, while Bhajan scored 27, giving Syifa the set win.
Bhajan Kaur regained her momentum, winning the third set with a margin of 2 points, scoring 29 to Syifa’s 27. The scores were tied at 3-3.
Bhajan continued her strong performance, scoring 9s and 10s to win the fourth set, making the score 5-3. She secured victory in the decider, winning the fifth set 7-3.
Ankita’s Journey Ends in Round of 64
Unfortunately, in the same event, Ankita lost to Poland’s Wioleta Mysore in the round of 64. Ankita started her first set with a score of 26, shooting 9, 8, and 9 but failing to score a 10. Wioleta, on the other hand, scored 9, 10, and 8, making it 27 and winning the opening set.
Ankita made a solid comeback in the second set, scoring two 10s and one 9. Wioleta scored 26, levelling the match at 2-2. Ankita continued her strong form, winning the third set 28-27. However, Wioleta made a comeback and won the fourth set 29-27, taking the match to the decider.
In the crucial final set, Ankita fell short, losing 4-6. Ankita scored 9, 9, and 9, totalling 27, while Wioleta scored 2 9s and one 10, totalling 28, and ultimately won the match
