Sumit Nagal has entered the Bengaluru Open 2024 semifinals after dispatching Hong Kong’s Chak Lam Coleman Wong in straight sets (6-2, 7-5). The 26-year-old, who is fresh off a title in Chennai, is on a 7-match win streak and has yet to drop a set since his second-round run at the Australian Open 2024.
In what was the first meeting between the opponents, Nagal broke Wong four times in the match. The first set was a straightforward one. The Indian ace broke his opponent twice in the first set to take it 6-2. The second turned out to be a tricky one for the Indian ace.
Sumit Nagal lost his serve at the start of the second but broke Wong right back to level things up. The second set continued on serve until the second seed stood up and broke his opponent in the last game of the set to seal it 7-5.
The 26-year-old will face fifth-seeded Adam Walton in the semifinal. Much like his quarterfinal opponent, Nagal will be facing the Australian for the first time in his career on February 16. Similar to the India ace, Walton is yet to lose a set and will look to end Nagal’s win streak.
