Bengaluru Open 2024: Nagal & Ramanathan to headline singles; 9 Indians in action in doubles

Apart from Nagal and Ramanathan, three Indians are still in contention to make the main draw, while two doubles teams have been awarded wildcards.

There will be at least 11 Indians in action at the Bengaluru Open 2024. Second seed Sumit Nagal and wildcard Ramkumar Ramanathan will headline the action in singles, with Sasikumar Mukund, Adil Kalyanpur, and Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha still in contention to qualify for the main draw.

In men’s doubles, nine Indians will be in action. Ramanathan will partner up with compatriot Saketh Myneni and will face Indian wildcards S D Prajwal Dev and Siddhant Banthia in the first round.

N Sriram Balaji will partner up with Andre Begemann to be the third seed and will go against German duo Mark Wallner and Jakob Schnaitter in the opening round.

The tournament, which will run from February 12 to 18, will also feature Niki Poonacha and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli as the fourth seeds and will go against Oriol Roca Batalla and Moez Echargui.

Wildcards Sai Karteek Reddy Ganta and Manish Sureshkumar will go face the American duo of Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac.

Speaking about having several Indian and international stars at the ATP 100 Challenger event, tournament director Sunil Yajman said:

“It is always exciting to see Indians in the main draw. Hosting international tournaments in the country helps local players as they get to play alongside top global names. With the presence of players like former World No. 25 Vasek Pospsil, Sumit Nagal, and Luca Nardi, the tournament will witness intense competition, as fans can expect a week full of exciting and high-voltage action at the KSLTA Stadium.”
