Sindhu has already written to the Badminton Association of India about her pulling out of the marquee event. The double Olympic medallist has been out since the CWG 2022. Although she has begun training, she is yet to reach her 100%.

Instead, the champion of 2018 World Tour Finals is now focusing on her recovery. Sindhu is expected to return to action early next year. She will begin her preparations for 2023 Asian Games and Paris Olympics.

“Yes, I hope to be match fit very soon and will be in right frame of mind and physically for the next Olympics in Paris as winning gold is the ultimate goal,” Sindhu said.

“Her doctor has advised her to take some more time so that she recovers completely ahead of the new season. She has discussed about the pros and cons but with so much restrictions in Guangzhou and also keeping new season in mind, she has taken this decision,” Sindhu’s father PV Ramana told PTI.

BWF World Tour FINALS Schedule: After Sindhu’s withdrawal, HS Prannoy is currently the only Indian contender. Lakshya Sen who is the highest-ranked male shuttler is not eligible to participate as he ranks 11th in the Road to Guangzhou rankings. Srikanth Kidambi is also not eligible as he ranks 10th. Only the Top 8 players of pairs in the Road to Guangzhou rankings are eligible.

However, as both Laskhya pulled out of the Australian Open with a throat infection, his challenge has ended. Srikanth could still make it if he wins the Australian Open. In women’s singles, Sindhu is the only one who is eligible.

As for men’s doubles, despite being in Top 10 of World Rankings, Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are not eligible for World Tour Finals. The tournament will be played in Guangzhou, China from December 14 to 18.
