Badminton Team Asia Championships: India claim an easy 4-1 win over Hong Kong to qualify for QFs

India qualified for the quarterfinals with this win and will now face their other opponent from Group A (China) on February 15.

India’s men’s badminton team has taken inspiration from the women’s side as they beat Hong Kong in the Badminton Team Asia Championships 2024. Despite HS Prannoy giving India a poor start (18-21, 14-21), the Men in Blue claimed a comeback 4-1 to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The world’s No. 1 men’s duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, leveled the Group A tie, beating their opponents 21-16, 21-11. Then, it was Lakhsya Sen who gave India a 2-1 lead, beating his opponent with ease. Sen lost just 23 points in the entire match to take his side ahead.

But it was the duo of Arjun M. R. and Dhruv Kapila who sealed the tie with an easy 21-12, 21-7 win. Then, world championship silver medalist Kidambi Srikant finished the proceedings by beating Jason Gunawan in straight games (21-14, 21-18).
