Australian Open Results LIVE: Sania Mirza’s journey at A02022 comes to an end: Sania Mirza has lost the Quarterfinal clash with pair Rajeev Ram in mixed doubles at the Australian Open. The duo lost the match 6-4, 7-6 in a battle that lasted for an hour & 30 minutes to Australia’s Jason Kubler and Jaimee Fourlis. They tried to put a strong fight in the second set but eventually lost the tie-breaker. Mirza and USA’s Rajeev Ram lost the first set and they were not able to show any spark, letting the opponents dominate. Having lost the first set, Mirza and Ram were left with all to do in the next set.
The Indian-American duo of Mirza and Ram managed to take a lead in the second set, but Kubler and Fourlis staged a comeback and the second set was nicely poised at 5-5.
However, in the end, Kubler and Fourlis held their nerve to win the contest to progress to the semi-final of the ongoing Grand Slam.
Earlier, Mirza had revealed that the 2022 season will be her last on the court and she would retire after that.

Mirza and Ram had previously won the Australian Open mixed doubles with different partners. Mirza had won it in 2009 with Mahesh Bhupathi while Ram is a two-time winner having won the 2019 and 2021 events with Barbora Krejcikova.
A02022 Mixed Doubles LIVE: Mirza is the only remaining Indian in the Grand Slam event. This will also be her last appearance in the Grand Slam event as she is set to retire at the end of year. Saina is looking forward to have a great swansong in the Australian Open when she plays along with Rajeev Ram. Sania will look to add one more title in her kitty and against a partner who is the current defending champion in the mixed doubles event at the Grand Slam, this will be her best time to end her Australian Open career on a high, she is just three wins away from doing it.
