Meanwhile her opponent, the 20-year old Anisimova, enters into the contest after pulling off an upset victory against defending champion Naomi Osaka on Friday. Against Osaka, Anisimova lost the first set but her fighting spirit was on full display as she won the second set and even saved two match points to clinch a brilliant 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-5) victory.

Anisimova has been in fine form in the run up to the Australian Open by becoming the firs singles champion of the 2022 WTA season when she won the Melbourne Summer Set 2 Final, picking up her second career WTA singles title. She is currently on an eight-match unbeaten streak and will be up against Barty who looks to win her eight consecutive game of the year.
