How can Novak Djokovic, Casper Rudd or Stefanos Tsitsipas become World No 1?
Current World No. 3 Casper Ruud can become the new World No 1 by reaching the Australian Open 2023 final. The Norwegian will also need a little help from Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas to claim the No 1 crown. Djokovic and Tsitsipas can miss out on the No 1 spot if they fail to win the title. However if all three fail to reach the final then current World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will continue to hold his position.
“I’m very grateful for the kind of energy and reception and love and support I got last night.”

Ruud is currently chasing his maiden Grand Slam crown in Melbourne. If he wins the Australian Open it would be a double celebration for the Norwegian. Ruud would become the first Norwegian to claim the World No 1 spot at the age of 24 and also win a Grand Slam trophy.
Speaking of Novak Djokovic, the Serbian arrives in Melbourne as one of the title favorites. He failed to defend his crown last year after getting deported due to staying unvaccinated. However this time around he will be clearly gunning for his 10th Australian Open crown.

The former World No 1 began his 2023 season by winning the Adelaide International. Winning the Australian Open 2023 will see him return to World No. 1 for the first time since June 6 and also equal the Grand Slam title ( 22).
Just like Rudd, Tsitsipas is also looking for his maiden Grand Slam title. The Greek has previously reached the final four back in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Winning the Australian Open will see him rise to the top of the ranking for the very first time. With top place up for grabs expect all three players to hardly put their foot wrong.
