Brenda Fruhvirtova is currently ranked World No.135 in Women’s Singles rankings. She was the 27th seed in the Australia Open qualifiers. The teenager began her campaign with a 6-0, 7-6 victory against Natalija Kostic in the first round of the qualifiers. She follwoed it up with a come-from-behind three set victory against Daria Snigur.
In her final match of the qualifier she defeated Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-3, 6-7, 4-6. With the victory, she has earned her maiden spot in the main draw of a Grand Slam event in her career.
Aged 15 years and nine months, the Czech is now the fifth-youngest qualifier to reach the main draw in the of the Australian Open.

However Fruhvirtova become the seventh youngest overall to reach the main draw. The youngest player to make it into the main draw of the Australian Open is without playing the qualifiers is Martina Hingis, who achieved the feat in 1995 at the age of 14 years and three months. Steffi Graf achieved the same feat at 14 years and five months in the 1983 edition of the tournament.
