ATP Rankings: Novak Djokovic has made his comeback to the top of the World rankings and is now closing in on a big record. The Serbian has now begun his 375th week at the top spot. The 22-time Grand Slam champion is now on course to become the longest reigning World No.1 in the history of the sport. Djokovic is already holding the record for most weeks as the No.1 player in Men’s singles. He leads by a big margin as only Roger Federer is behind him, who held the top spot for 310 weeks.
Djokovic last held the top spot at the Roland Garros in 2023. However, following his quarterfinal defeat against Rafael Nadal, he lost the No.1 ranking to Daniil Medvedev. He won the Wimbledon last year but that didn’t help him get back to the top spot as ranking points were stripped of the tournament.

The 35-year old achieved it as he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final and displaced Carlos Alcaraz from the top spot to extend his reign at the top of the rankings.
The upcoming Dubai Tennis Championships will be the next tournament for Djokovic. The tournament is set to begin from 27th February 2023. He shouldn’t have much trouble to go past Graff’s tally following the tournament.
In the current ATP Rankings, Djokovic leads with 7,070 ranking points to his name. Carlos Alcaraz is behind him with 6,730 ranking points at the second spot. Alcaraz, who missed the Australian Open due to an injury is set to return to the tour next week at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires.
