The India squad for Athletics World Championships comprises of 17 men and five women. Besides the javelin thrower, long jumper M Sreeshankar is another medal prospect if things go according to plan. Neeraj has delivered with three medals in the last three events so the expectations have only increased. There will be pressure on him to deliver at the prestigious meet. The same can be said for Sreeshankar, who will be more than eager to get his best jump. Muhammed Anees Yahiya is the second long jumper in the squad.

It could increase to three if Jeswin Aldrin is selected for the World Championships. He will feature in a selection trial at the NIS Patiala on Monday. Interestingly, Aldrin had also attained the qualification mark for the Worlds.
