Asian Wrestling Championships 2024: All you need to know about grand tournament starting on April 11

Notably, India had won one gold, three silver and 10 bronze medals in the previous edition of the tournament.

Starting on Thursday in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, a fine blend of young and experienced wrestlers will compete in the Asian Wrestling Championships 2024. Among the Indian contingent are World junior silver medallist Antim Kundu, World Championships bronze medallist Sarita Mor from the World championships, and Asian bronze medallists Anirudh Kumar and Arjun Halakurki.

For the first time, Indian wrestlers will be allowed to compete at an international wrestling event under the Indian flag after United World Wrestling (UWW) lifted the suspension on the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on February 13.

The main event is the Asian Olympic Games qualifier. It will take place at the same venue right after the Asian championships. The wrestlers who placed first in their respective Olympic weight categories during the trials will compete there. In these weight classes, the wrestlers with the second-best rankings will compete for the Asian championships.
