Asian Para Games: Shooters Manish Narwal, Rudransh Khandelwal add more medals to India’s tally

India’s dominance on Day 2 of the ongoing 4th Asian Para Games continued as medals kept increasing in the overall tally on Tuesday. India enjoyed double-medal glory in the men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event as Rudransh Khandelwal and Manish Narwal clinched silver and bronze medals respectively.

Rudransh with a total of 238.3 points while Manish settled for the third spot with 217.3 points. China’s Xing Huang broke the Asian Para Games record with a total of 238.6 points. Coming to athletics, Ravi Rongali bagged a silver medal in the men’s Shot Put F40 event with a best throw of 9.92m. Iraq’s Garrah Tnaiash clinched the gold medal with an attempt of 10.80m.

Mongolia athlete Battulga settled for the bronze medal with his personal best attempt of 9.74m. In badminton, shuttler Manasi Nayana Joshi defeated China’s Yuemei Liu by 2-1 in the women’s Singles SL3 quarter-finals. Liu took the first game with a hard-fought victory 21-17 victory.

Manasi bounced back in the next game to clinch a hard-fought victory by 21-17. Riding high on the confidence, she went on to win the final game by 21-18 to seal her spot in the next round. The Indian contingent will be keen to replicate the success of Day 1 as they ended with 17 medals – 6 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze.

At the 2018 Asian Para Games, India sent a total of 190 athletes and returned with 72 medals, including 15 gold, for their best performance at the quadrennial event.
