The golden day for the Indian contingent continued, as shooter Avani Lekhara bagged the gold medal in the women’s T2 10m air rifle standing SH1 category, at the Asian Para Games on Monday. The youngster Avani also smashed the Asian Para Games record with a massive score of 249.6. Unfortunately, the other Indian in the fray, Mona Agarwal, had to be content with a sixth-place finish.
Meanwhile, China’s Zhong Yixin bagged the silver medal with a score of 247.5, with fellow Chinese Zhang Cuiping, securing the bronze medal with a score of 225.8.
About Avani Lekhara
Apart from winning a gold medal at the Asian Para Games, Avani is also a Paralympic gold medal, and the first woman from the country to do so. She also has a bronze in the Paralympics, in the 50m rifle standing event. With a score of 249.6, she had set the world record in her event. The girl from Rajasthan also has two gold medals in World Cups, to go with a silver.
