Asian Games: Indians troll Pakistanis on social media after squash gold in men’s team event

The Indian users were particularly agitated over a video posted by Muhammad Asim during the Asian Games group stages.

As expected, after the Indian men’s squash team of Saurav Ghosal, Mangesh Mangaonkar, and Abhay Singh won the gold medal at the Asian Games by beating Pakistan, social media users on both sides went berserk. In a closely-fought final, India won the tie 2-1 in the end, to bring first gold in squash in this edition of the competition.

As soon as the gold was sealed, users from India uploaded a recent video of Muhammad Asim, a member of the Pakistani team, where he is seen talking about thrashing the neighbours in the group match. A few users could not resist highlighting the fact that, ‘Karma is a bitch’.

As far as the tie is concerned, in the first match, it was Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal who started the game fiercely as he raced off to a 5-1 lead early on over Mahesh Mangaonkar. After a competitive first game, in which Mangaonkar was 11-8, Nasir won the next two 11-3, 11-2 to give Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the tie.

In the second match, veteran player Saurav Ghosal turned the tie in India’s favour as he won 11-5, 11-1, 11-3 against Muhammad Asim Khan.
Thereafter, Abhay walked away with the last match which went down to the wire.
