Asian Games: Indian shooting team competition ready, visits event venue

Indian shooting team's Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita will participate in shooting's first event at Asian Games -- Women’s air rifle individual.

Shooting is one sport where the Indian contingent can really shine, at the Asian Games, and the competitions will begin on September 24. As many as 33 medal events will be played, over a span of the next seven days, in rifle, pistol, and shotgun. On Thursday, upon reaching the venue, the Indian shooting team had a first look at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre range, where a host of events will take place.

The biggest names in the Indian shooting are Manu Bhaker and Rudrankksh Patil. While Manu had missed a medal in the 25m pistol event in Jakarta, in the last edition of the Asian Games, this will be a big chance to redeem herself. On the other hand, Rudrankksh Patil, the 10m air rifle specialist is one of the best in the world and is also a World Championship winner from 2022. A lot would depend on them to deliver gold to India.

Meanwhile, in the last Asian Games, India had won a total of nine medals from shooting, with only two of them being golds. This time around, the contingent would hope to bring a lot more.
