Asian Champions Trophy Highlights – India defeated Malaysia 4-3 in a nerve-wrecking thriller to win their fourth Asian Champions Trophy title on Saturday, 12th August 2023. Trailing 1-3 after the first-half, India made a terrific comeback in the seven-goal thriller at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai. Earlier, Japan defeated South Korea.

India vs Malaysia
India are one win away from winning their fourth title in the Asian Champions Trophy. The Men in Blue haven’t faced a defeat so far in the tournament and aim to continue the dominance in the final.
Despite being the favourites, India will however be wary of Malaysia. The Speedy Tigers are also entering the contest after registering three successive wins in the tournament. “It is a must-win game against Malaysia. It is really important for us,” said Coach Craig Fulton on the importance of the upcoming clash between both the sides.
Malaysia finished the round-robin stage at the second spot on the points table. Their only loss in the Asian Champions Trophy came against India in the tournament. The young team coached by Arul Antoni are eyeing a revenge against the Men in Blue.
The Speedy Tigers have already registered their best-ever performance in the tournament. They will be in action in their first-ever final in the tournament. However Arul Antoni would want his side to go on and lift the title in the tournament.
South Korea vs Japan
Last year’s finalists South Korea and Japan will be fighting to seal the third position in the tournament. Japan lost the semifinal 0-5 against India, while South Korea went down 2-6 against Malaysia.
Both the teams managed to register just a solitary win in the tournament so far. They secured five points each in the round-robin stage and finished third and fourth respectively on the points table.
Both the teams met in the opening match of the tournament this year. South Korea sealed a 2-1 win in the contest. The defending champions would once again look to replicate a similar show against Japan and finish the tournament with a win.
