India’s Women recurve Archery team secured bronze medals at the Asian Archery Championships on Wednesday, 8th November 2023. There was one more medal on the day for the country as the Men’s compound archery team also won bronze in the ongoing tournament at Bangkok on the day. Meanwhile the Women’s compound team advanced to the final.

In the semifinal of the Asian Archery Championships, the Women’s compound team comprising Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swami and Parneet Kaur defeated Thailand 228-217. With the win, the Asian Games gold medal winning team assured atleast a silver at the Asian Championships.
Meanwhile, the Men’s compound archery team went down in the semifinal against Kazakhstan. In a closely fought contest, India’s Abhishek Verma, Priyansh and Prathamesh Fuge narrowly missed the final as the scores read 236-237.
India’s Women’s Recurve teams miss out Paris Olympic quota
In the Recurve team events both the Men and Women’s team had to settle for silver. The Women’s team trio of Bhajan Kaur, Ankita Bhakat and Tisha Punia won the bronze medal contest by defeating Chinese Taipei 5-1.
Despite winning the bronze medal, they lost a chance to secure quota for Paris Olympics 2024. At the Asian Archery Championships, only the gold medal winning team will earn a berth to the Olympics.
