Asian Badminton Team Championship – Indian Badminton TEAM: The highly anticipated Asia Mixed Team Badminton Championship will get underway on 14th February 2023, Tuesday. Indian Badminton TEAM: TThe tournament is making its appearance after a four-year hiatus. Last edition of the event was held in 2019 at Hong Kong. It was about to be held in 2021 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic the event was cancelled.
China and Japan are the top two seeded countries in the 17-nation event. China won the bronze medal in the inaugural edition, while they clinched the gold in 2019. Japan meanwhile won gold and silver in the last two editions.

Groups: A total of 17 teams will take part in the tournament. All the teams have been divided into four groups. Three groups comprise four teams each, while one group alone has five teams. India is placed in Group B that has a strong Malaysian side. The other two teams in the same group are hosts UAE and Kazakhstan.
Group A: China, South Korea, Singapore, Uzbekistan
Group B: India, Malaysia, UAE, Kazakhstan
Group C: Indonesia, Thailand, Bahrain, Syria, Lebanon
Group D: Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Pakistan

- Feb 14 (from 9 am): South Korea vs Singapore, Indonesia vs Lebanon, China vs Uzbekistan
- (after 1 pm) Malaysia vs UAE, India vs Kazakhstan
- (after 5 pm) Chinese Taipei vs Hong Kong (China), Japan vs Pakistan, Bahrain vs Lebanon, Indonesia vs Syria
- Feb 15 (from 9 am): Indonesia vs Bahrain, China vs Singapore, South Korea vs Uzbekistan, Thailand vs Lebanon
- (after 1 pm) Japan vs Hong Kong (China), Chinese Taipei vs Pakistan
- (after 5 pm) India vs UAE, Thailand vs Bahrain, Syria vs Lebanon, Malaysia vs Kazakhstan
- Feb 16 (from 9 am): China vs South Korea, Singapore vs Uzbekistan
- (after 1 pm) Japan vs Chinese Taipei, Indonesia vs Thailand, Hong Kong (China) vs Pakistan, Bahrain vs Syria
- (after 5 pm) Malaysia vs India, Kazakhstan vs UAE
All the 17 participating nations will kickstart action on the opening day. The action on the first day will begin with South Korea facing Singapore. Top seeded nation China will open against Uzbekistan in Group A, while Indonesia and Lebanon will be up against each other.
India will face a lowly ranked Kazakhstan in their first group encounter. Japan, the second seed will kickstart action against lowly ranked Pakistan. Meanwhile, the hosts UAE will be up against a strong Malaysia.

Men’s singles: Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy
Women’s singles: PV Sindhu, Aakarshi Kashyap
Men’s doubles: Dhruv Kapila/Chirag Shetty, Krishna Prasad Garga/Vishnuvardhan Goud P
Women’s doubles: Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand, Ashwini Bhat/Shikha Gautam
Mixed doubles: Ishaan Bhatnagar/Tanisha Crasto
World no. 6 PV Sindhu and Men’s Singles World No.8 HS Prannoy will lead the strong Indian contingent. Along with Prannoy, Lakshya Sen will also feature in the Men’s Singles. Sindhu meanwhile will have Aakarshi Kashyap as second women’s singles player.
However World No.5 Men’s Doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will not play together. Satwik has suffered a hip injury and has been ruled out of the tournament. Dhruv Kapila has replaced Satwik and he will play alongside Chirag Shetty. The other Men’s doubles pair is Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud.
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will lead India in the women’s doubles. Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam made their cut as the second doubles pair. In Mixed Doubles, Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto will be in action.
