Indian archer Bhajan Kaur secured an individual Paris Olympics 2024 quota after she bagged the gold medal at the ‘Final World Archery Olympic Qualifier’ in Antalya, Turkey on Sunday. Bhajan was in top form in the final against Iran’s top seed Mobina Fallah, and beat her in straight sets, to get the quota for the country in Olympics 2024.
Bhajan Kaur, seeded third in the Archery Olympic Qualifier showed her masterclass to win 6-2 in the final (28-26, 29-29, 29-26, 29-29). Her compatriot Ankita Bhakat also secured the quota, that increased the number of archers from India at Olympics 2024, to three. Although Ankita was ousted in the quarters, but she still managed to secure the quota.
For the record, the Paris Olympics 2024 quotas were awarded to the top 8 nations, with each country getting one of those. In the men’s section, only Dhiraj Bommadevara made the cut for Olympics 2024, prior to this tournament, at the Asian qualifying leg.

Unfortunately, multiple-time Olympian and former World No. 1 Deepika Kumari once again failed to live up to the expectations and lost in the first round itself. But Bhajan Kaur was the highlight of the tournament where she beat Urantungalag Bishindee of Mongolia 6-2 (29-27, 28-26, 26-29, 27-24) in the first round.
Post that, it was the turn of Slovenia’s Urska Cavic. The Indian girl beat her 7-3 (28-22, 29-18, 28-28, 26-27, 27-24). Then in the quarters, she won against Wioleta Myszor 6-0 (30-28, 27-24, 30-28).
