After a pre-quarters finish in the Singapore Open, star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu lost in the first round of the Indonesia Open on Wednesday. The WR-12 Indian lost to WR-26 Wen Chi Hsu in three games 15-21, 21-15, 14-21, to bow out of the tournament. This comes as a rude blow to her Paris 2024 preparations, where she would be looking to win her third medal at the Olympics.
PV Sindhu vs Hsu @Indonesia Open
It all started on a bright note for the Chinese Taipei girl, who raced to a 10-2 lead in the first game itself. Sindhu tried to make a decent recovery at 18-15, but that wasn’t enough. Come the second game, she showed a marked improvement and was too good for Hsu. The game was level at 11-11 at one stage but a flurry of points saw Sindhu take the match to last game.
