Indian shooter Arjun Babuta advanced to the final of the men’s 10m air rifle event at the Paris Olympics, finishing 7th in the qualifying round with a score of 630.1 points.
Sandeep Singh also competed, finishing 12th with 629.3 points and failed to reach the finals at the event.
Arjun started the competition well, scoring 105.7 points with a best shot of 10.8. Despite a slight dip in the second series with 104.9 points, he remained in the top 8. He improved in the third series with 105.5 points and a best shot of 10.9.
Challenges in the fifth series
In the fourth series, Arjun scored 10.8 and 10.9 on his first two shots but dropped to 6th place as the series progressed. The fifth series saw a slip to 8th place after a first shot of 10.2. Despite regaining some momentum, his final shots started poorly.
Arjun hit 10.8 at a crucial moment, moving up to 8th place just ahead of Germany’s Maximilian Ulbrich. Italy’s Bonazzi and Norway’s Hegg also remained in contention.
In the final series, Arjun scored 104.6, finishing in 7th place. His consistent performance allowed him to qualify for the final round and stay in medal contention.
