After a YouTube video in which Andrew Tate called Islam the “last authentic religion in the world” went viral, Tate claimed to have converted to Islam in October 2022. He claimed that despite being raised in a Christian nation, he has always had respect for Islam.
Since his arrest, Tate’s Twitter account has included references to Islam. On January 10, 2023, Tate appeared in court while carrying a Quran. Tate was a member of the Romanian Orthodox Church and had been raised as a Christian.

Last month, a court dismissed Tate’s most recent appeal against his charges and sentenced him to an additional 30 days in jail. After losing two prior requests, the brothers had already been imprisoned for another 30 days while investigations were ongoing. They have been held without charge for more than ten weeks due to accusations of rape, human trafficking, and organized crime.
