And now, 70 days have passed since their arrest. Although they were initially detained for 24 hours, the court granted Romanian authorities’ request for a 30-day extension. After that two similar petitions that were accepted one after the other, and Tate’s detention has since been extended by 90 days. While, Tate’s team has continuously lost appeals against the extensions.
Given that the authorities did not find any significant evidence during their investigation that would need them to stay in prison, it appears that he will be released before the end of this month. But if they find something, they will undoubtedly prolong the detention period.
