Andrew Flintoff boxing career

Flintoff became a professional boxer and had ambitions of an extended run in the sport. However, his first professional bout ended up being his last. Despite this, the Englishman did very well in his only fight, beating American Richard Dawson by points.

The fight started well for Flintoff. He looked a little stiff, but moved better than his opponent. It was evident that the plan was to outbox Dawson. And after an impressive first round, Flintoff came back for the second to do more of the same.

However, Dawson caught him with a strong left hook in the clinch. This sent the Englishman crashing to the ground. Despite this, Flintoff got back up and fought through. The third and fourth rounds saw some more good exchanges. Flintoff looked tired but continued on. And after four close rounds, it went to the scorecards. Although Dawson dropped Flintoff in the second, the Englishman took home a 39-38 decision win.

Despite the controversial win, Flintoff never entered the ring again. He addressed the issue and said he did not like getting beaten up. So while he did well in his only professional fight, clearly boxing was not for Andrew Flintoff.

What do you make of Andrew Flintoff’s only boxing fight? Do you think he would do well in the current influencer boxing space?
