The 114th edition of the All England Open Badminton Championships 2024 will kick off on March 12. The BWF Super 1000 event will feature 14 Indian shuttlers in the oldest badminton tournament in the world, with six players in singles and four duos in doubles. With the Paris 2024 Olympics on the line, each and every player will have their eyes set on the prestigious trophy.
Kidambi Srikanth vs Viktor Axelsen
Former World No. 1 Srikanth will play Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen in the opening round of the All England Open 2024. The Indian ace shuttler has a 3-10 record against the current number one and hasn’t beaten him since 2017. Srikanth is yet to make a quarterfinal this year, while Axelsen is playing just his third event of the year.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty vs Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan
Top seeds Satwik and Chirag are coming off a title run at the French Open and will face the World No. 13 duo of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the opening round. The Indian duo have a 2-3 record against the Indonesians, who have won just one match this year.
Lakshya Sen vs Ng Tze Yong
2022 finalist Lakshya Sen will face Ng Tze Yong of Malaysia in his opening round. Yong is yet to complete a match this year and has a poor 0-3 record against Sen.
HS Prannoy vs Su Li-Yang
India’s top-ranked singles player (7), Prannoy, will face Taiwan’s Su Li-yang in his opener. Having made one semifinal each this year, one can expect a tough first meeting between the two.
