Lakshya Sen started the game on a positive note by taking lead early on in the game. He entered the first set break with a 11-7 lead and never looked back as he closed the first set with a 21-13 win.
However Zii Jia Lee made a brilliant comeback in the second set. He brought forth his attacking game and challenged the 20-year old Indian. Lakshya had no answers to his smashes that gave the Malaysian 11-3 lead in the break. Trailing 5-16, Lakshya held his nerves and brought him back into the game by winning five successive points. Lee however breaked Lakshya’s service and won the set 21-12 to take the game into the third set.

He went into the break with a two point lead of 11-9 and bettered it by leading the game 16-12. Just when it looked like the game was slipping away from Lakshya, the Indian scripted a terrific comeback. He started playing aggressively and challenged his opponent with some powerful smashes that earned him quick points. He soon reached the match point and closed out the third set 21-19 to march into the final.

Satwik & Chirag LOSE in Quarterfinals: Meanwhile, men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost to top seed Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia 22-24, 17-21.
The Indians were leading 20-15 in the first game before the Indonesians fought back to win the game 24-22. In the second game, the Indians fought hard and it was a see-saw battle till the 15th point before the Indonesians raced ahead to win the match.
