A few hours after PR Sreejesh played his last in India colours, and taking the team to a second consecutive bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, the custodian is all set to don a new hat. A report in Revsportz suggested, Sreejesh is all set to become the coach of the Indian junior hockey team, as per Hockey India Secretary General, Bholanath Singh.
Sreejesh has been a stalwart in Indian hockey for close to two decades, playing over 300 matches. After debuting for India in 2006, he went on to win some major accolades for the nation, including bronze medals at the Olympics, two Asian Games titles, one bronze in World League, and multiple Asian Champions Trophy titles.
Apart from being razor sharp at the gold post, he came to be known as a shrewd tactician, who would often be seen shouting out instructions to his teammates. In fact, he led the Indian team on multiple occasions, and emerged as India’ lone star in many major victories.
