India’s upcoming javelin specialist DP Manu will train in South Africa for 32 days, after the Mission Olympic Cell and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) approved the proposal on Friday. The Asian Athletics Championships silver-medalist Manu, will train in Potchefstroom for the upcoming important season.
As per a report, Manu, who is training at ASI, Pune, will now head to the North West University High Performance Centre in Potchefstroom in the first week of March. The move has come after the TOPS had approved a similar trip for Neeraj Chopra at the same location.
Meanwhile, after that Neeraj will head to Turkey and train there for 79 days before the Olympics start. The MYAS, under the TOPS funding will cover their Airfare, boarding/lodging costs, local transportation costs, OPA (for Manu and his coach).

The MOC also approved the proposals for new javelins for para-athletes Navdeep Singh and Pushpendra Singh during this meeting.
