After IPL 2024 auction, Mallika Sagar set for PKL auction return

Mallika Sagar has previously auctioned the Women's Premier League and Indian Premier League auction.

Mallika Sagar is set to once again command the auctioneer’s gavel, this time for the highly anticipated Pro Kabaddi League Season (PKL) 11. Her recent groundbreaking role as the first female auctioneer for the Indian Premier League (IPL) has firmly established her as a leading figure in the world of sports auctions in India. This will be a return for Mallika, who previously conducted PKL 2021 auction. Last year, it was Charu Sharma at the helm.

Mallika Sagar not new in sports auctions

Having previously presided over the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction, Sagar brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to the high-stakes bidding process. As the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) gears up for its 11th season, all eyes will be on the auction, where 12 franchises will battle it out for the top kabaddi talent.

Mallika also conducted the 2021 PKL auction as well, meaning she will be well averse with most of the names in Kabaddi circuit. For those who are unaware, Mallika is a Mumbai-based art collector and consultant for Modern and Contemporary Indian art.

The auctioneer for the inaugural WPL auction is also a partner with the Art India consultants firm. She has plenty of experience conducting auctions with Pundoles (an art gallery) in Mumbai. It is noteworthy that Mallika was the first female auctioneer of Indian origin when the 48-year-old began her career at Christie’s and held the first sale of Modern Indian Art in New York in 2000. With 88 players already retained across different categories, the auction promises to be a thrilling spectacle. Fans can catch all the action live on Disney+ Hotstar starting at 7 pm on August 15.
