3-year-old Anish Sarkar shatters record to become youngest rated FIDE player

Indian chess sensation Anish Sarkar has become the youngest-rated FIDE player at 3 years, 8 months and 19 days of age

At 3 years, 8 months and 19 days, India’s anish Sarkar has become the youngest FIDE player. The youngster recently took part in the West Bengal State Under-9 Open and the West Bengal State Under-13 Open. Currently, Anish Sarkar has a rating of 1555 as per the list published on October 31.

Anish Sarkar was born on January 26, 2021. In 2023, he went past Tejas Tiwari to become the youngest Indian with a FIDE rating. Anish Sarkar currently trains at Dhanuka Dhunseri Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy.

Anish Sarkar scored 2/3 against three rated players at the West Bengal State Under-9 Open. Overall he scored 5.5/8 and finished 24th in what was his first Classical rating tournament. In the Under-13 Open, he failed to score a point against two rated players but fulfilled the criteria to become a FIDE-rated player.

Anish regularly solves tactical puzzles to sharpen his ability to calculate variations and identify tactical motifs. He practices endgame techniques to improve his ability to convert advantages into wins, especially in complex endgame positions. Under the tutelage of Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua, Anish undergoes rigorous training, dedicating several hours daily to honing his skills
