At just 16 years of age, Australian sprinter Gout Gout has done something that most Indian athletes, including the seniors, could have dreamed of. The sprinter recorded a mind boggling time of 10.4s in a U18 100m heat in windy conditions. Gout clocked the fourth fastest by an Australian in any conditions in history. Meanwhile, the record for an Indian athlete in 100m so far is 10.21. held by Anil Kumar.

16-year-old Australian puts Indian athletes to shame

Gout Gout, who was born in 2007, has outdone India’s record holder by a mile. It is pertinent to point out that Anil Kumar was born in 1973, which means currently he is way out of competition. The youngest Indian on the list of top three with a speed of 10.30s is Gurvinder Singh who was born in 2000. The Australian teenager leaving behind the Indian sprinters by a mile is a stellar reminder of how far Indian athletes been left behind in the field.
