Chennaiyin FC made a strong start to the game. They’re passing it about nicely and have already put the KBFC defence to the test with a couple of good attacks. Petar Sliskovic broke through the KBFC defence and slid in a through ball on the far side. Ruivah Hormipam, on the other hand, cleared it away to safety.

The hosts blew an early opportunity. Julius Duker and Edwin Henry joined up on the edge of the box with some slick passing. The latter chippped in a pass towards Vincy Barretto inside the area but the Chennaiyin FC midfielder had to reach for it and fluffs his effort. This blunder allowed the KBFC defence to clear the ball.

Sahal Abdul Samad put Kerala Blasters on lead. KBFC move on a counterattack as Ivan Kaliuzhnyi rushes with the ball from the half line and throws a fantastic through pass to Sahal Samad. He applied the precise touch. Debjit Majumder was completely off the mark. He chipped it over Debjit Majumder from the edge of the box and into the net.

Vincy Baretto put Chennaiyin FC on levels right after the resumption of the game. Gill dives to save Rahim’s initial shot on goal and flicks the ball to the right flank. Vincy Barreto was racing and sent a fantastic shot inside the net. Following that goal, it was end-to-end action, but neither CFC nor KBFC were able to able to find the back of the net.
