Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo: Prediction, Timings And Odds

Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo odds, Alvarez is a -420 favourite (risk $420 to win $100), while Charlo is a +320 underdog.

In the 12-round boxing main event on Saturday night, Canelo Alvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight title against unified light middleweight champion Jermell Charlo. The main Canelo vs. Charlo fight programme (8 p.m. ET) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is headlined by the big bout.

Alvarez, who is regarded as the sport’s biggest international celebrity, will compete twice this year. He defeated mandatory challenger John Ryder in May by a landslide unanimous decision. He now squares off against brash Charlo, a fellow professional who, in May of last year, stopped Brian Castano to win all four of the major belts in the light middleweight class. Charlo has argued repeatedly that getting to compete against Alvarez is a dream come true.

Prediction, Timings And Odds Of Alvarez vs. Charlo

According to the most recent Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo odds, Alvarez is a -420 favourite (risk $420 to win $100), while Charlo is a +320 underdog. The total number of rounds completed has an over/under of 10.5, with the over being favoured at -300 and the under being valued at +220.

This bout, which is possibly the most eagerly anticipated Alvarez match in recent memory, belongs on the 2023 mega-fight ledger in a year that has been packed with high-profile contests. This is due to the fact that it not only contains two undisputed champions in the height of their powers but also that the stylistic contrast points to the likelihood of an exciting contest.

Insidesport

Power puncher Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) chases his adversaries and exhausts them with a brutal attack. Four of his last six knockout victories have occurred in the eighth or later rounds, indicating that he gets stronger as the fight goes on.

Charlo is a boxer-puncher who depends on his speed and good basics (35-1-1, 19 KOs). He is not, however, a stick-and-move fighter who is willing to win rounds by employing a conservative strategy. He is frequently eager to strike first, setting up lightning-fast combinations with a sharp left jab. His powerful overhand right has knocked countless opponents to the ground.

In his most recent fight, Charlo defeated the tough and tenacious Castano, who won a rematch by forcing Charlo to a contentious split draw in July 2021. Castano kept his WBO light middleweight title when the bout ended in a draw, but Charlo won the rematch to become the new undisputed champion.
