The Mexican boxer has successfully defended his title as the undisputed super middleweight champion by outlasting the British John Ryder in Guadalajara by a majority decision.

Following that victory, Alvarez stated his wish for a rematch against the Russian Dmitry Bivol. However, the parties were unable to come to an agreement, and the search for a new opponent began. Badou Jack and David Benavidez were considered, but both were turned down by the Mexicans.

‘Canelo’ now has a record of 59 victories (39 knockouts), two defeats, and two draws.

On the other side, it should be kept in mind that Jermall Charlo hasn’t boxed in two years due to a back ailment and mental health issues. The American has a record of 32 victories—22 of them on the fast track—and is still unbeaten.
