5 Possible Ways Drew McIntyre Can Become The WWE Intercontinental Champion at SummerSlam 2023

  1. Drew McIntyre pins Gunther

Previously, at WrestleMania 39 Gunther defeated Drew McIntyre and Sheamus to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship. However, McIntyre went on a hiatus following that and he returned at the last Pay-per-view event, WWE Money in the Bank 2023. At the event, McIntyre attacked Gunther and made his intentions clear that he is still after the title.

Since McIntyre is determined to win the title since WrestleMania 39, he might make it a reality this time. McIntyre might pin Gunther to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

  1. With Assistance From Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle has been feuding with The Imperium for a long time now. Also, at Money in the Bank 2023, Riddle faced Gunther for the title. Though Riddle failed to win the title at the last Pay-per-view event, he continued to feud with Gunther, Vinci, and Kaiser.

Recently after McIntyre returned, Riddle and McIntyre teamed up to take down the Imperium. Now that McIntyre is all set to face Gunther for the title at the upcoming pay-per-view event, Riddle might interfere in their match, helping McIntyre pick up a win against Gunther. Thus, McIntyre will become the new Intercontinental Champion of WWE.

  1. Former Rival Returns

Gunther previously feuded with several WWE Superstars. It might happen that during Gunther’s match against Drew McIntyre, one of his former rivals might return and distract Gunther.

McIntyre might take advantage of the distraction and dethrone the current champ.

  1. The Imperium Accidentally Costs Gunther the Title

Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci of the Imperium have always tried to run interference during Gunther’s matches.

However, this time their interference might turn out to be harmful for Gunther. Vinci and Kaiser might aim to help Gunther but accidentally attack him instead. This will give McIntyre an opportunity to pin Gunther to become the new Champion.

  1. Glasgow Kiss and Claymore kick might once again do the Job

Previously, when McIntyre returned to Money in the Bank 2023, he returned and attacked Gunther. McIntyre decimated Gunther with a Glassgow kiss and a Claymore kick.

Thus, at the upcoming pay-per-view event, he might once again unleash the deadly combination of the Glasgow Kiss and Claymore kick on Gunther and destroy him and thereby pin him to win the title.
