BWF World Tour Finals: Badminton World Federation (BWF) has released a list of qualifiers for the year-end BWF World Tour finals. The Top 8 players of this season from the BWF World Tour will all play in the season finale that is all set to be held in Bangkok from December 7 to 11. The Australian Open 2022, which concluded in Sydney on Sunday, was the final qualifying event for the BWF World Tour Finals. The top eight players in the World Tour Rankings, with a maximum of two per Member Association in each category, will be invited to the season finale. Players who have won the World championship are also assured of automatic qualification.
In the Men’s Singles, HS Prannoy finished third in the BWF World Tour Rankings and has qualified for the event. He is the only Indian men’s singles player top make the cut as World No.7 Lakshya Sen and World No.11 Kidambi Srikanth couldn’t secure spots in the tournament as they finished 11th and 10th in the race to the BWF World Tour finals.

However, the World No.7 will not be participating as she has pulled out from the tournament. She is yet to recover from the stress fracture that she suffered during the Commonwealth Games 2022.
The tournament which was originally scheduled to be held at Guangzhou in China, has been relocated to Nimibutr Arena in Bangkok, Thailand due to the Covid-9 pandemic. Now the tournament will run from 7-11 December – one week earlier than the scheduled dates.
