Lakshya Sen Gets Lottery: Lakshya was drawn to meet World No. 2 Momota in round 3 & No. 7 Christie in the Quarterfinals. But now both these hurdles are out of Lakshya’s way.

If the young Indian can somehow beat 15th Seed Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in Round 2, his passage to the World Championship semifinals can become very smooth.

Lakshya is not the only Indian who will get benefitted by the mass withdrawals of the Indonesian team.

Off-color B Sai Praneeth who is seeded 14th in the tournament can also turn out to be a big beneficiary.

World No. 5 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting from Praneeth’s Quarter of Draw also has pulled out giving him a great opportunity to make it to the last 8.

But before that Praneeth plays Mark Caljouw of Netherlands in the opening round who defeated him at the Tokyo Olympics.

12th seed Kidambi Srikanth of India is also in Praneeth’s Quarter along with Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei.

“With 3 of the 4 highest seeds at the top withdrawing in the men’s singles while no one has withdrawn from the bottom half, I just don’t understand why not a re-draw?” wrote Hans-Kristian Vittinghus via his personal Twitter account.

“It will provide much fairer competition and will also provide better viewing for all viewers. Can anyone tell me why a redraw is a bad idea?” he continued.
