BWF Rankings: HS Prannoy has become the top ranked Indian Men’s Singles player. In the latest rankings updated by the BWF, Prannoy remains at the eight spot in Men’s Singles, while Lakshya Sen moved down three places from No.7 to 10th spot. With this, Prannoy begins 2023 as No.1 ranked Indian in Men’s Singles. Meanwhile, PV Sindhu remains at the seventh spot in the Women’s Singles rankings. The 30-year-old Prannoy is continuing to scale new peaks after a fantastic season in 2023. Prannoy reached the eighth spot in the rankings by the end of 2022. This is his best-ever ranking in his career. It is to be noted that at the start of 2022, the shuttler from Kerala was ranked World No.26.
Though he failed to in a title, he made deep runs in several top-level tournaments. His best performance came in the Swiss Open in which he finished as runner-up. He also made it to the semifinals at the Malaysia Masters and Indonesia Open. He was the only Indian to feature in the BWF World Tour final finale this year. He however bowed out from group stage. In the upcoming season, he is aiming to carry forward his form.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty remain the highest ranked Indians. They are ranked 5th in the Men’s Doubles. World No.7 PV Sindhu is also unmoved and she is the highest-ranked Indian singles player.
