Manchester City started the game on a strong note as Kalvin Phillips’s opening strike hit the crossbar just 62 seconds after the start of the game. But Bristol City wasn’t afraid as the hosts came back knocking. However, it was Phil Foden who with a sweet strike gave the Manchester Blues an early lead at the 7th-minute mark.
After some immaculate exchange of passes between de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez, the English midfielder found the ball on his feet and guided the ball into the back of the net to stun the Bristol City crowd in the opening minutes of the game.

Back in the second half, Man City made a switch to replace Stefan Ortega who suffered a hand injury in the first. On came the primary goalie, Edersen. While de Bruyne and Co continued to dominate the game, Bristol City hung to their defenses to avert further danger.
At the 75th-minute mark, a through ball saw Nathan Ake venturing into the penalty box to place a sweet ball into the path of Foden. As majestic as his left foot goes, the youngster hit the ball cleanly, but a trailing leg from a Bristol City defender saw the ball deflect into the net, as Foden cheekily bagged a brace.
The last goal and the final nail in the coffin came in the form of Kevin de Bruyne’s masterpiece. Capable of hitting long and powerful shots from a distance, the Belgian midfielder unleashed a thunderbolt from 20 years out wide. The ball zoomed past the opponent’s goalie to find the net and Man City gets a 3-0 advantage. Now, with this comfortable win, the Manchester Blues are through into the Last-8 of the competition.
