Mikel Arteta kept moving for the Ecuadorian despite huge competition from their rivals Liverpool who are searching for the midfielder following failed effort for Bellingham. Chelsea were also in the race to sign Caicedio.

As per the reports of TERADEPORTES, the 21-year-old midfielder has reached a verbal agreement with Arsenal. The Gunners want stability in the midfield area as Granit Xhaka is likely to leave the Emirates in the summer. Mikel Arteta considers him as the best option to replace Xhaka.

Arsenal will take part in the Champions League next season and they need to strengthen the squad for a busy 2023/24 season. Ecuador international would prefer to go with the Gunners and he can help them to fight for the trophy next season. The young midfielder guided Brighton to Europa League for the first time.

Arsenal have to be aware of any hijack like they earlier faced in the case of Mykhailo Mudryk who was signed by Chelsea despite his linked up with the Gunners in January. The Blues may offer a higher bid for the 21-year-old. One fact that can help Arsenal is Chelsea will not play in Europe in 2023/24 so players can choose the Gunners.

Liverpool is also a rival in this deal but the Reds are ideally out of the race. They are not willing to meet the asking price of Brighton Star. Brighton is demanding more than £70m which was submitted by Arsenal in January.
