Brian Lara Stadium Pitch Report: Slow surface & low score expected in 3rd ODI

Check out the Brian Lara Stadium Pitch Report for the India vs West Indies third ODI on August 1.

Brian Lara Stadium Pitch Report, IND vs WI 3rd ODI: After a humiliating defeat at the hands of the West Indies in the second ODI, the focus now shifts towards the third and final ODI on August 1. The Indian management decided to rest their two senior stalwarts, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, in the 2nd ODI. The move, however, backfired, and the Men in Blue were skittled out for 181 runs. Windies, in reply, finished the game with six wickets in hand and 80 balls to spare.

Brian Lara Stadium Pitch Report

The pitch at Brian Lara Stadium tends to be slow and spin-friendly. No men’s international ODI matches have been played here. However, in the three women’s ODIs played here, no team has crossed the 200-run mark. The average first-inning score here in 34 CPL matches (T20) is 141, with no team crossing the 200-run mark.

This will be the first-ever men’s ODI international match at this venue and the second-ever international game played here. The previous match played here also featured India and the West Indies. India scored 190 runs in the first innings of that T20I game and eventually won the game by 68 runs.

With the series on the line and uncertainty on how the pitch will play, the side that wins the toss will select to chase.
