How much did Oleksandr Usyk Earn by beating Anthony Joshua?

Estimating fighters’ earnings is not an easy task, given the number of complications and the lack of information they reveal. However, since it was such a big event, there were several reports which give us a ballpark figure.

In the first fight, since Usyk was not the champion, he earned much lesser than Joshua. According to reports, Usyk took home $4.1 million plus 40% of the PPV share in the first fight. This was a big difference in comparison to Joshua, who earned $13.6 million and 60% of the PPV share.

However, in the rematch, Usyk was the champion and, as per the agreement, the two shared the purse equally. In addition, the rematch was in Saudi Arabia and thus, both fighters enjoyed lucrative purses. According to reports, Usyk and Joshua both took home $75 million for the rematch.

So in total, for two fights against Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk earned $79 million. However, this is only his earnings from the pre-agreed purse. The Ukrainian also took home PPV share, endorsements, sponsorships, and other sources of income. Thus, it is safe to say that Usyk earned close to $100 million for his two fights against Anthony Joshua.

What do you make of these reports? Do you think Usyk deserved more in the rematch?
