Boxing: Anthony Joshua is still one of the biggest names in the sport, despite losing his belts to Oleksandr Usyk last year. The former heavyweight champion may not hold any titles now. Joshua fought only once in 2022. And despite teasing a mega-fight against Tyson Fury, it was his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. The two battled it out in the ring in August. And despite a valiant effort from the Brit, Usyk won via a decision to retain the belts. However, it was not all doom and gloom for ‘AJ.’

The two fought in Saudi Arabia. And therefore, the purses for their bout were much higher than what they would earn in the UK. Moreover, since it was a rematch, the pair split the purse 50-50. As a result, Anthony Joshua earned a reported $75 million.

Considering Joshua fought only once, this is a lot of money. Canelo Alvarez, who earned the most for a boxer in 2022, had to fight twice to pocked $90 million. Therefore, had Joshua fought again in 2022, maybe he would’ve overtaken the Mexican.

Anthony Joshua’s earnings through endorsements

While the figure is staggering, Joshua is no stranger to such figures. He took home a similar figure against Andy Ruiz Jr. in the rematch. However, this is not his only earnings for the year. This is only his earnings from boxing.

With Joshua’s fame also comes his long list of endorsements. The former heavyweight champion of the world has multi-year deals with Under Armour, Jaguar Land Rover, Beats by Dre, Hugo Boss, Sky Sports, DAZN, and others.

Therefore, when you consider all of these aspects, his earnings for 2022 could be much higher. However, it is difficult to estimate how much he actually made from all his endorsements in 2022.

What do you make of Anthony Joshua’s earnings in 2022? Do you think he can replicate it in 2023?
