‘Bowlers ki line nahi lagi hai’ WATCH Rohit Sharma bemoans about injuries

As the revamped India prepares to begin its WTC campaign against the West Indies, skipper Rohit Sharma spoke out about the players’ sporadic bouts of injuries.

India captain Rohit Sharma has often dropped stinging remarks regarding unavailability of players for the marquee events.

Infamously, a hurt Rohit issued a severe warning to the Indian management in December 2022 regarding players becoming hurt after passing fitness testing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Because of this, India lacked the luxury to completely display its all-star roster at ICC events. At the T20 World Cup 2022, Rohit Sharma and company were without Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah.

In the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) championship final 2023, the Asian heavyweights were missing the likes of Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul.

Now what has Rohit Sharma said?

Fast-forwarding to the present, Team India is prepared to compete in the new WTC cycle, but the same old injury issues have weighed on the side under the direction of Rahul Dravid.

India decided to rest experienced pacer Mohammed Shami for its first assignment in the WTC season. They already lack the services of quick Jasprit Bumrah. Senior pacer Umesh Yadav was omitted from the Indian team for the West Indies series, much like star batter Cheteshwar Pujara.

On the eve of the first Test between India and the West Indies, Rohit was asked about his thoughts on managing the visitors in the Caribbean with a young bowling attack.

“We’ve seen that the pacers have taken a lot of wickets here. But it is what it is. Players get injured and we have to rotate them unfortunately. Humare paas fast bowlers ki line nahi lagi hui hai (We don’t have an abundance of pacers). In India, there are a lot of bowlers who are injured. The ones we have, we need to manage them. Which is why our experienced bowlers couldn’t come on this tour,” Rohit told reporters.

Shardul Thakur (9), Jaydev Unadkat (2), Navdeep Saini (2), and pacer Siraj are joined by Mukesh Kumar, who received his first Test call-up following an outstanding domestic campaign.
